As part of a project, the properties of fiber-metal laminates (FML) under blast (shock waves) and impact loading are being investigated and optimized. This class of materials is characterized by a laminate structure consisting of alternating layers of long-fiber-reinforced polymers and metal. In particular, the focus is on optimizing the manufacturing process, setting up an FE analysis to determine the failure modes, and experimentally investigating the mechanical behavior with respect to the complexity of a shock wave loading. As a sample material, the design of an aluminum-S2-glass laminate, also known under the brand name GLARE, is investigated.<\/p>\n
