About 40 participants took advantage of the MAI Carbon General Meeting to engage in professional exchange, gain new inspiration, and gain practical insights
The 2026 Members Meeting of MAI Carbon, part of Composites United e. V., brought together around 40 representatives from industry and research in Landsberg am Lech on October 13, 2026. The event was hosted by the Technology Transfer Center (TTZ) for Data Science and Autonomous Systems at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences.
Following a review of past activities and an outlook on future initiatives by Managing Director Sven Blanck, the election of the new executive committee was on the agenda. Those elected were Prof. Dr. Tobias Dickhut (Universität der Bundeswehr München), Christel Hufschmied (Hufschmied Zerspanungssysteme), Jan-Christoph Arent (Airbus Helicopters), Markus Feiler (Airbus Aerostructures), and Prof. Swen Zaremba (Chair of Carbon Composites at the Technical University of Munich).
Experiencing Research and Industrial Applications Firsthand
A special highlight of the program were the guided tours, which provided participants with practical insights. Julian Stähler, Director of the TTZ Data Science and Autonomous Systems, introduced the facility and its work and guided the guests through the technology center.
MAI Carbon member COMPOSYST GmbH also opened its doors and presented its portfolio during a company tour. Thus, the members meeting not only provided an opportunity for personal exchange but also offered concrete insights into the expertise and activities of the network partners.
New Perspectives on Innovation Promotion
Olav Carlsen from SPRIND – the Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovations – provided further expert input. In his presentation, he outlined approaches to fostering disruptive innovations and highlighted the opportunities opening up for the development and implementation of new technologies.
In addition to the official program, the event offered numerous opportunities to strengthen existing contacts and initiate new collaborations.
